Boeing Expands MAX Production Capacity with New Everett Facility

Boeing has begun assembling its 737 MAX aircraft at its new North Line facility in Everett, Washington. This marks the first time in over 50 years that final assembly of the narrowbody programme will take place outside of Renton.

The new facility is roughly 20% larger than Boeing's existing production site and will allow for the production of up to 47 aircraft per month once it reaches full capacity.

Initially, the North Line will operate under low rate initial production (LRIP), which provides additional time at each station for employees to become familiar with the new site. The Federal Aviation Administration is also present at the facility to ensure that Boeing is building to its engineering drawings and following its quality management system.

The first aircraft to be produced on the North Line is a 737-10 due for Canadian carrier WestJet, followed by another -10 and two -8s. The MAX 7 will not be produced at the Everett facility.
