Boeing Flags Slower Jet Production Ramps Due to Supply Constraints
The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA) has reported that its narrow-body and Dreamliner production ramps are slower than initially planned, according to Chief Executive Kelly Ortberg.
The slower ramp is due to supply constraints rather than demand issues, Ortberg said. The company has confirmed orders from Korean Air and Biman Bangladesh Airlines, but factory throughput needs to improve to meet delivery expectations.
Boeing's commercial aircraft business accounts for the largest share of revenue, with smooth assembly and certification crucial to its success. The company is rebuilding factory discipline and quality gates to achieve steadier deliveries.
The Boeing enterprise includes defence and space systems, as well as a global services arm that provides parts, upgrades, and maintenance across thousands of installed aircraft.
