Boeing Hit with $3.1 Million Fine Over Safety Violations

Boeing has paid a USD 3.1 million fine to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) following a series of safety violations.

The FAA uncovered hundreds of quality system violations at Boeing's 737 production plant in Renton, Washington between September 2023 and February 2024.

Additionally, the regulator found that Boeing submitted two aircraft for approval even though both were not yet airworthy, and a Boeing employee pressured an FAA colleague to sign off on a 737 MAX despite it not meeting regulatory standards.

US Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal criticized the fine as inadequate, saying 'For Boeing, fines like this are too small and too easily dismissed as a cost of doing business, rather than a penalty capable of deterring dangerous behaviour.'
