Boeing Hopes to Reach 52-Plane Production Rate Amid Supply Chain Constraints
Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg provided an update on the company's production rates and progress at the Morgan Stanley Laguna Conference in California. The planemaker is currently producing 47 Boeing 737s per month, which is up from 42 but not yet stable, according to Ortberg.
The Boeing CEO stated that the supply chain is in 'really good shape' but is constrained by wings production. Specifically, the company produces all the wings for the MAX line in Renton and has not seen the expected flow improvements.
Ortberg aims to reach a production rate of 52 Boeing 737s per month and eventually increase it to 63. To achieve this, the company will need to stabilize the current 47 rate and certify its new production line in Everett, Washington.
The MAX 10 certification is also on track, with Ortberg saying that the aircraft is 'coming very shortly'. The certification process has been delayed due to the completion of flight testing and documentation phase.
