Boeing Jacksonville and Jumbo Shrimp Team Up for Back-to-School Giveaway
Boeing Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp teamed up to host their annual back-to-school supply giveaway. The event, which took place on July 11, was held in partnership with Communities in Schools Jacksonville.
The giveaway aimed to provide school supplies for approximately 40 students attending along with their families. In addition to receiving free school supplies, the students also got to tour the Boeing Jacksonville facility and see various aircraft, including F-18s.
During the event, children participated in hands-on STEM activities, such as building a tiny robot and constructing paper airplanes. This year marked the third consecutive year that the Jumbo Shrimp were involved with the giveaway.
According to Matt Goudreau, president and general manager of the Jumbo Shrimp, 'For the Jumbo Shrimp it's so important to be well engrained in our community and do things that are going to bring smiles to kids' faces.'
Leon Baxton, CEO of Communities in Schools Jacksonville, noted that this event demonstrates what can happen when community works together. He stated, 'This is what community is all about, working together with everyone for one cause.'
