Google's New Data Center in The Dalles Won't Get Tax Breaks
Google has announced that its new 77,000-square-foot data center in The Dalles, Oregon will not receive any new tax incentives. This clarification comes after the city approved a site plan application to construct the data center and supporting infrastructure at 4200 Columbia Road.
The new investment is expected to go through Oregon's regular property assessment process rather than being placed under a new tax incentive agreement. Leslie Schulman, Google spokesperson, stated that 'We are not seeking new tax incentives for the refurbishment.'
Google has been a major player in The Dalles economy, with its original campus opening in 2006 and steadily increasing property tax payments over the years. According to Schulman, the company paid around $16 million in property taxes from 2022 through 2025.
