Boeing lands $14.7 billion contract for missile seekers
Boeing has secured a $14.7 billion contract from Lockheed Martin to manufacture PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) seekers over the next seven years. The deal, announced in a press release, will triple production of these critical components, which enable Patriot interceptors to detect and track various threats, including aircraft and hypersonic missiles.
The agreement aligns with the U.S. Department of War’s Acquisition Transformation Strategy and Arsenal of Freedom initiative. Boeing has already begun ramping up production and hiring, following an earlier framework agreement. Steve Parker, president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, emphasized the company’s readiness to deliver seekers at unprecedented levels, citing early investments in quality and execution.
The contract is expected to create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs in Huntsville, Alabama, where Boeing has expanded its PAC-3 seeker factory. The company has also strengthened supplier relationships, modernized facilities, and improved production processes to support the increased demand.
The seekers are essential components of the PAC-3 MSE interceptors used in Patriot missile defense systems deployed by U.S. and allied forces.
