Boeing Lands $14.7 Billion Contract to Boost Missile Seeker Production
Boeing has secured a massive $14.7 billion contract to ramp up production of seekers for the advanced Patriot missile interceptors. The contract, awarded by Lockheed Martin, focuses on scaling up the production of PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) seekers, which are crucial components for identifying and engaging various threats, including aircraft, hypersonic missiles, and cruise missiles.
The deal allows Boeing to triple its production capacity under a previously announced seven-year framework agreement with the U.S. Department of War. This expansion is expected to generate hundreds of new jobs in the Huntsville area, where Boeing has already started increasing its workforce and upgrading its facilities.
Boeing has invested in expanding its PAC-3 seeker factory, strengthening supplier relationships, and modernizing its facilities to meet the heightened production demands. The company's efforts aim to ensure quality and efficiency as it works to deliver seekers at unprecedented levels.
"Early investment and a relentless focus on quality and execution have positioned us to now deliver seekers at unprecedented levels in the near-term," said Steve Parker, president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security. "Our Boeing teammates could not be prouder of the role they play in protecting U.S. and allied service members, civilians and critical infrastructure worldwide."
