Boeing Lands $14.7 Billion Deal to Boost PAC-3 Seeker Production
Boeing has secured a $14.7 billion contract from Lockheed Martin to significantly increase production of PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) seekers. This contract, awarded in October 2026, is part of a seven-year framework agreement with the U.S. Department of Defense, aimed at accelerating the delivery of critical defense capabilities under the Acquisition Transformation Strategy.
The PAC-3 MSE seekers are essential components for advanced Patriot interceptors, enabling them to identify, track, and engage a wide range of threats, including hypersonic, ballistic, and cruise missiles. Steve Parker, president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, emphasized the company's readiness to meet production demands, stating, "Early investment and a relentless focus on quality and execution have positioned us to now deliver seekers at unprecedented levels in the near-term."
Boeing has already begun expanding its production capacity, including upgrading its factory in Huntsville, Alabama, and strengthening its supply chain to ensure agility and resilience. The company expects to create hundreds of jobs in the region as a result of the contract. The increased production aligns with the U.S. Department of Defense's goal of bolstering the nation's "Arsenal of Freedom" and supporting allied defense needs worldwide.
The contract follows recent capital investments and process improvements aimed at enhancing first-time quality and production efficiency. Boeing's efforts underscore its commitment to supporting U.S. and allied service members, as well as protecting critical infrastructure.
