Boeing lands $14.7 billion deal to triple PAC-3 MSE seeker production
Boeing has received a $14.7 billion contract from Lockheed Martin to significantly increase production of seekers for the PAC-3 MSE interceptor. This agreement, part of a seven-year framework with the U.S. Department of Defense, aims to triple the current output of these critical components.
The PAC-3 MSE is an advanced interceptor used in the Patriot air defense system. Its seeker plays a vital role in detecting and tracking high-threat targets, including ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, aircraft, and hypersonic threats. Boeing has already begun preparing its Huntsville, Alabama, facility for the production surge, including hiring and manufacturing adjustments.
Steve Parker, president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, highlighted the company’s early investments and manufacturing improvements, which have positioned the program for rapid expansion. The company is also strengthening its supply chain to support larger production volumes. Boeing has invested over $200 million in seeker production since 2024, including a 35,000-square-foot facility expansion in Huntsville.
The increased production capacity comes as the Pentagon prioritizes faster weapons procurement and a more robust U.S. defense industrial base. Boeing’s expanded seeker output will support PAC-3 MSE production for the U.S. and its allies, helping meet global demand for Patriot interceptors. The contract underscores the importance of specialized components in missile programs and provides Boeing with a seven-year window to scale up production.
