Boeing lands $14.7 billion deal to triple Patriot missile seeker production
Boeing has secured a significant contract worth approximately $14.7 billion from Lockheed Martin to scale up production of PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) seekers. The contract, an undefinitized contract action, allows Boeing to triple its seeker production under a seven-year framework agreement with the U.S. Department of War. This agreement supports the Pentagon's Acquisition Transformation Strategy and aims to strengthen the nation's Arsenal of Freedom.
The seekers are crucial components for Patriot missiles, enabling them to identify, track, and engage a range of advanced threats, including hypersonic, ballistic, and cruise missiles. Boeing has already begun ramping up production and hiring, following the framework agreement announced earlier this year. The company has invested in expanding its seeker factory and modernizing facilities, alongside improvements in supplier relationships and process controls.
Steve Parker, president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, expressed pride in the company's role in protecting U.S. and allied service members, civilians, and critical infrastructure worldwide. The production increase is expected to create hundreds of direct and indirect jobs in the Huntsville, Alabama, area.
Boeing's commitment to quality and execution has positioned the company to deliver seekers at unprecedented levels. The contract aligns with the U.S. Department of War's focus on accelerating the delivery of key capabilities to service members.
