Boeing Lands $20 Billion Contract for US Navy's Sixth-Generation Fighter Jet

Boeing has secured the contract to develop the U.S. Navy's F/A-XX sixth-generation fighter jet, beating out Northrop Grumman in one of the largest military aircraft competitions currently underway.

The Engineering and Manufacturing Development contract is worth approximately $20 billion and covers multiple test aircraft for ground, airworthiness, systems, and weapons integration testing.

This marks a significant victory for Boeing, which has also been selected to develop the U.S. Air Force's Next Generation Air Dominance program, defeating Lockheed Martin in March 2025.

The F/A-XX is intended to replace the Boeing F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and become the central crewed fighter of the Navy's future carrier air wing.
