Boeing Lands $20 Billion Contract to Build Next-Gen Navy Fighter Jet

The U.S. Navy has awarded Boeing a contract worth more than $20 billion to produce its next-generation strike fighter aircraft in St. Louis, Missouri.

The F/A-XX aircraft will replace the Navy's fleet of F/A-18 Super Hornets and feature advancements in open mission systems architecture, advanced mission systems, and operational reach and capacity.

This contract follows Boeing's selection to work on the U.S. Air Force's F-47 program, also being constructed at the secure manufacturing facility in St. Louis.

According to Steve Parker, president and chief executive officer of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, 'Investment in facilities is just one part of the story; we're also investing in technology and people so that we can deliver for our customers.'
