The US Department of Defense (DOD) and Navy have awarded Boeing a $20 billion contract to develop the F/A-XX Strike Fighter jet, a next-generation stealth fighter that will replace aging F/A-18E/F Super Hornets by the 2030s.

The F/A-XX is part of the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program and will operate alongside F-35C jets and uncrewed autonomous drones as a crucial component of US national security.

Boeing's president and CEO, Steve Parker, called the contract an 'honor' and said that Boeing is ready to execute this critical program with its dedicated team and new facilities.
