Boeing Lands $20 Billion Navy Contract for Sixth-Generation Fighter
The U.S. Navy has awarded Boeing a contract worth over $20 billion to develop the F/A-XX, a sixth-generation strike fighter that will provide 'absolute air superiority' for American pilots.
The deal is part of the Next Generation Air Dominance program and includes multiple test aircraft for ground testing, airworthiness evaluations, and systems and weapons integration.
Boeing's president and CEO of Defense, Space & Security, Steve Parker, said that delivering two advanced fighters in parallel was always their plan, and they are ready to execute this critical program.
The F/A-XX will have advances in mission systems and operational reach and capacity, but technical and program details remain classified under U.S. national security and export laws.
