Boeing Lands $20B Contract for Sixth-Generation Fighter

The US Navy has awarded Boeing a $20 billion contract to develop its sixth-generation F/A-XX strike fighter, as part of the Next Generation Air Dominance program.

The agreement includes multiple test aircraft for ground testing, airworthiness evaluations, and systems integration. The F/A-XX is designed specifically as a carrier-based platform intended to extend the operational reach of the Navy's aircraft carrier fleet in contested maritime theaters.

According to Michael P. Duffey, Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment, the F/A-XX is essential to maintaining American air superiority in contested environments. He described it as a critical pillar in the country's commitment to maintaining peace through strength.
