Boeing Lands Huge Deal with Korean Air Worth Over $36 Billion
Korean Air has finalized a major order with Boeing Co. for 25 more North Charleston-built 787-10 jets and 78 other commercial planes, firming up a deal worth over $36 billion at list price.
The agreement includes the purchase of 20 777-9s, 50 737-10s, and eight 777-8 freighters, all to be manufactured in Washington state. Only the Dreamliner has been certified for passenger use, with the other models still in development or awaiting approval.
Korean Air will leverage this fleet modernization to strengthen its competitive edge and drive economic exchange between Korea and the US, according to a spokesperson.
The carrier pegged its total investment at $44.8 billion, which includes 21 spare engines from GE Aerospace and CFM International as well as a 15-year maintenance plan for 28 Boeing aircraft.
