Boeing Lands Massive Contract for US Navy's Sixth-Generation Fighter Programme
The US Department of Defense (DoD) and US Navy (USN) have awarded Boeing a contract valued at over USD20 billion for the F/A-XX Strike Fighter under the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) programme.
The contract is for the full-scale development phase, which includes procuring multiple test aircraft for ground, airworthiness, systems, and weapons integration testing.
This marks a new era for the USN, as the sixth-generation fighter will provide significant advancements in air superiority and interoperability with unmanned platforms such as Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA).
Boeing's president and CEO of Boeing Defense, Space & Security, Steve Parker, stated that their efforts were 'solidified by the investments we've made in new facilities uniquely suited to build multiple products with next-generation capabilities.'
