Boeing Lands Massive Order from Turkish Airlines for Up to 150 737 MAX Jets
Boeing (BA) has secured a massive deal from Turkish Airlines for up to 150 of its 737 MAX aircraft. The order, which was finalized in the presence of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, marks the largest single-aisle order by the carrier for Boeing.
Turkish Airlines will take delivery of 100 737-8 aircraft and has options to purchase an additional 50 737 MAX jets. The agreement also includes substitution rights for the 737-10 variant, allowing the airline to serve more passengers on high-demand routes as travel demand rises.
The new jets are expected to strengthen Turkish Airlines' short- and medium-haul operations, with Boeing claiming that the 737 MAX reduces fuel use and emissions by 20% compared to its predecessors. This efficiency is seen as a key factor in supporting the airline's growth strategy amidst rising travel demand.
