Boeing Lands Two Major Contracts Worth Over $20 Billion Amid Concerns

After years of delays and uncertainty, the US has finally selected Boeing as the developer for its sixth-generation F/A-XX carrier-based fighter. This decision comes on top of another major contract win for Boeing, which will see it develop the F-47 aircraft for the US Air Force. The Pentagon announced that the F/A-XX project will cost over $20 billion and will involve producing several prototypes for testing purposes.

The F/A-XX is designed to replace the aging F/A-18E/F Super Hornet and EA-18G Growler platforms starting from the 2030s. It will be used alongside the F-35C and will be compatible with loyal wingman drones under the Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) program.

Boeing has already published its own announcement about the project, including a render of the new fighter. Many have noted that the design features similarities with the land-based F-47 aircraft, raising concerns about Boeing's ability to handle both projects simultaneously.
