Boeing Offers Revised Aircraft Proposal to Pakistan International Airlines
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has received a revised aircraft proposal from Boeing, following a meeting between Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Boeing Global President Brendan Nelson in New York.
The proposal aims to address PIA's pressing need for new aircraft to expand its fleet and restore grounded planes to service. The carrier's new owners have identified a minimum of 25-30 aircraft as necessary for sustainable operations and expansion.
The revised proposal includes options for earlier delivery slots and interim leasing arrangements, which could help PIA quickly acquire the necessary aircraft. Additionally, the meeting discussed possible financing from the Export-Import Bank of the United States, as well as engines, spare parts, maintenance, and work to restore grounded aircraft.
