Boeing Orders Suppliers to Automate or Fall Behind

Boeing Co. is pushing its suppliers to adopt more automated processes in order to meet ambitious production targets.

The aerospace company's Chief Technology Officer, Lane Ballard, stated that suppliers need to move away from human-centric processes and towards higher levels of automation and repeatability.

Aerospace was once a 'craftsman business,' hand-built and hand-riveted, but now Boeing is aiming for more efficiency through technology.
