Boeing has made a payment of US$3.1 million to the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as part of a settlement related to hundreds of safety and quality violations at its manufacturing facilities.

The payment, which was made in January 2026, is the maximum civil penalty allowed under existing law for such offenses.

The FAA identified issues with Boeing's quality control systems and found that the company had presented two aircraft that were not airworthy to the agency for certification.

In one instance, a Boeing employee pressured an FAA representative to approve a 737 MAX despite knowing it did not meet safety standards, in order to meet delivery schedules.
