Boeing Pledges Support for Revived Ghanaian National Carrier
Boeing has expressed its willingness to work closely with the Ghanaian government to restore the national carrier, which could return to flying in approximately 18 months. The company's representatives made this assessment during talks with President John Dramani Mahama in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
The 18-month target is contingent upon the establishment of necessary structures and mechanisms to implement the project, according to Boeing. President Mahama emphasized that Ghana seeks a strategic partnership with Boeing to develop the aviation ecosystem, create skilled jobs, transfer technology, and strengthen the industrial base.
The proposed partnership includes the creation of a regional aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul center in Ghana, which could serve airlines in West Africa and other countries on the continent. The parties also discussed aviation training, skills development, technology transfer, and the creation of high-value jobs for Ghanaian youth as part of the Reset Ghana program.
