Boeing Scores $2.38 Billion F-15EX Contract from US Department of War
Boeing has secured a $2.38 billion contract from the U.S. Department of War for an additional 22 F-15EX Eagle II fighters, bringing the total number of aircraft under contract to 120. This latest order is part of Boeing's ongoing production efforts for the F-15EX, with deliveries expected to continue through the end of 2026.
The F-15EX is a variant of the original F-15 fighter jet, which first entered operational service in 1976. The new aircraft combines advanced mission systems and an all-glass touchscreen cockpit with high speed, range, and payload capabilities.
In contrast to the F-35A Lightning II, the F-15EX emphasizes speed, payload, and weapons capacity, whereas the F-35A prioritizes stealth and information processing. While both aircraft have their strengths, they represent different solutions to the same problem of air dominance.
