Boeing has secured certification for its long-delayed 737 Max 7 jet from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), bringing an end to a nearly decade-long review process. The FAA issued an amended type certificate for the Max 7, which was marred by two fatal crashes and quality lapses at Boeing.

The certification comes despite the challenges faced by the planemaker during the review period. According to its website, Southwest Airlines has predominantly ordered the Max 7, while Boeing still has 282 unfilled orders for the aircraft.
