Boeing Secures Multi-Billion-Dollar Navy Contract and Boosts Commercial Fleet
Boeing (NYSE:BA) made significant strides this week in both its commercial and defense sectors. The company secured a multi-billion-dollar U.S. Navy fighter contract for the F/A-XX program, which will design, build, and deliver the sixth-generation fighter to replace the service's F/A-18 Super Hornet fleet.
The award marks Boeing's second sixth-generation fighter selection, following its win of the F-47 program in 2025. The company has invested heavily in manufacturing capacity, technology, and personnel to support multiple advanced combat aircraft programs simultaneously.
In commercial news, Ethiopian Airlines ordered eight Boeing 777-8 Freighters and two 777 Freighters, making it the first African carrier to do so. This deal doubles the airline's 777X family order book and expands its cargo fleet.
