Boeing Secures Progress on Chinese Jet Orders Amid Trump-Xi Talks
China is making progress on its commitment to purchase 200 Boeing jets announced in May. U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer stated that around 140 of these planes are in a good state, with an additional 10 orders being written down.
The order marked Boeing's first major Chinese deal in nearly a decade and was described as an 'initial tranche' of a potentially larger agreement by Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg. He also noted that the purchase was not limited to just these 200 planes and could be followed by additional orders from Chinese carriers.
Greer did not indicate any further large-scale Boeing purchases were imminent ahead of President Donald Trump's meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, although he did mention that there would likely be some increment in orders going forward.
