Boeing Seeks to Dethrone Airbus in Deliveries by 2030
The Boeing-Airbus duopoly has been swinging back and forth over the years, but Airbus had a strong advantage since the turn of the millennium. However, this year Boeing outproduced Airbus for the first time in a calendar month since before the two fatal MAX crashes.
The 737 MAX crashes and near-misses, combined with the FAA-mandated slow production and delayed certifications for the MAX 7, MAX 10, and 777-9, left Boeing behind. These delays resulted in launch customers being 6-7 years late.
Despite this, Boeing is making a comeback. With its recent success in outproducing Airbus, it appears that the tide may be turning again.
