Boeing Sells Autonomous Aircraft Assets to Archer Aviation
Archer Aviation has agreed to acquire Wisk Aero and two other subsidiaries from Boeing as part of a definitive agreement. The deal includes SkyGrid, which is developing digital air traffic management software for autonomous aircraft, and Insitu, a company that builds and maintains military drones.
The acquisition will give Boeing a 19.75% ownership stake in Archer, along with warrants for an additional $100 million when exercised. Boeing will also receive a board seat and continued access to Wisk's autonomy technology.
Wisk Aero has spent several years developing fully autonomous electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, conducting over 1700 flight tests and achieving successful flights of their most recent prototype, Generation 6, in December 2025.
