Boeing Shares Decline Despite New Orders Amid Execution Concerns
Boeing's shares declined on Thursday despite receiving fresh aircraft orders from Turkish Airlines and Biman Bangladesh Airlines. The Turkish carrier ordered 100 Boeing 737-8 jets with options for another 50 MAX jets, while Biman Bangladesh ordered 11 planes, including five Dreamliners and six 737-8s.
President Donald Trump highlighted the agreements as a boost to U.S. manufacturing and exports. However, the orders only reinforce demand in Boeing's narrowbody and widebody portfolios, with several deliveries scheduled for future years.
The company faces continued pressure from its estimated $715 billion backlog and must convert this demand into production, deliveries, and cash flow. Boeing is working to stabilize 737 MAX production and advance the 777X program amid upcoming labor contract expirations.
