Boeing Slapped with $3.1 Million Fine for Safety Violations

Boeing paid a $3.1 million fine to the FAA after admitting to a series of safety violations, including actions tied to the 2024 Alaska Airlines MAX 9 emergency.

The fine was paid in January this year, after it was sought by the FAA in September 2025. The agency had not publicly disclosed the amount until now.

The FAA found that Boeing had interfered with safety officials' independence and presented aircraft for approval that were not airworthy.

In 2024, the FAA discovered hundreds of quality system violations at Boeing's 737 factory in Renton, Washington, and the 737 fuselage factory of then subcontractor Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, Kansas.
