Boeing Slows Down MAX Production Amid Wing Delays
Boeing's efforts to boost production of its B737 MAX aircraft have hit a snag. According to CEO Kelly Ortberg, the company will need more time than expected to reach its target of producing around 47 planes per month.
The delay is due to issues with wing production at Boeing's Renton factory in Washington state. Despite this setback, Ortberg stated that plans are in place to resolve the problems and stabilize production.
Boeing built 48 B737 MAX aircraft in August, down from 39 in June and 38 in May. The certification of the B737-10 is still pending, having experienced multiple delays.
In related news, Boeing's B777X program has hit a roadblock due to issues with the GE Aerospace GE9X engines. Testing could extend into 2027 as durability problems involving a mid-seal of the engine have arisen.
