Boeing Software Glitch Raises Concerns Over 737 Max Jet Safety

A software glitch in Boeing's 737 Max jets could cause issues during landings, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The issue lies in the flight management computer, which could disengage the plane's vertical navigation system (VNAV) during a 'go-around'.

The FAA is investigating the matter and working closely with Boeing and airlines. While pilots are trained to land an airplane without the automated VNAV system, top aviation officials have expressed concern about burned-out crew members.

Boeing first learned of the glitch in November 2024 but didn't immediately consider it for a safety review. After receiving feedback from airlines, Boeing launched a formal safety review this month and shared its findings with the FAA.
