Boeing Software Snag Drag Down Dow as Yields Climb
The Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted to just under 51,500 on Monday due to a software issue affecting Boeing's 737 Max 10.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated it will not certify the aircraft until the problem is assessed, sending Boeing shares tumbling nearly 7% and shedding over $12 per share.
Nvidia, however, managed to rise 1.7% after announcing a record $150 billion buyback plan, but its gains were overshadowed by Boeing's decline, which weighed heavily on the Dow due to its significant market value.
Treasury yields continued their upward trend, with the 10-year yield surpassing 5.2% and the 30-year nearing 5.5%, while the two-year yield rose about 0.17 of a point in the week leading up to September 25th.
