Boeing Stocks Soar on Labor Deal and New Orders Boost
Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) shares saw significant gains on Wednesday due to major labor agreement progress and fresh commercial order momentum.
The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace, representing its 17,000 engineering and technical members, officially recommended that they vote to accept Boeing's latest four-year contract offer. This endorsement follows an upgraded proposal presented by management on Sept. 11, which improved upon an earlier draft rejected by members during an Aug. 21 vote.
The agreement eliminates a primary operational risk that Chief Executive Officer Kelly Ortberg warned would halt ongoing 737 MAX certification testing and disrupt core assembly line throughput.
In addition to the labor stability, Boeing received confirmation on Wednesday of two new orders: Biman Bangladesh agreed to purchase 11 additional jets, expanding upon a $3.7 billion fleet order originally signed in April; and Turkish Airlines announced it will buy up to 150 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft with deliveries spanning from 2033 to 2037.
