Boeing Sued Again Over 737 Max Losses Despite Norwegian Settlement
Aircraft owners are pushing back against Boeing's settlement with Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA, seeking compensation for their own losses related to the grounding of the 737 Max.
The four Cayman Islands-registered special purpose vehicles (SPVs), which act as owners of twelve aircraft formerly or currently used by Norwegian, argue that the 2021 settlement does not cover their financial losses and claims for damages.
The plaintiffs claim that they received no compensation for the depreciation of their twelve aircraft as part of the out-of-court settlement between Norwegian and Boeing, despite the Scandinavian airline receiving approximately two billion Norwegian kroner (around 170 million euros).
The court has scheduled the start of the trial for February 16, 2027. As part of the preparations, the plaintiffs are seeking to subpoena a former senior Boeing executive to gain insight into internal decision-making processes and communications regarding the aircraft type certification.
