Boeing Supports Liberty University's Historic DC-8 Overlook Project
Liberty University has secured a grant from Boeing to support the construction of a public pavilion on its campus, which will be home to a historic DC-8 aircraft. The plane was donated by Samaritan's Purse and has flown over 55 million miles during its 60-year service.
The DC-8 Overlook project aims to provide hands-on learning opportunities for students and young people from underrepresented communities. Boeing's grant will fund the development of interpretive exhibits, humanitarian aviation content, and STEM learning modules related to aviation careers.
According to Lacey Pittman, Vice President of Global Aerospace Safety at Boeing, 'Boeing is proud to support Liberty University's DC-8 Overlook project.' The company has contributed nearly $50.8 million in 2025 across hundreds of grants in support of STEM education and workforce development programs.
