Boeing Tackles 737 MAX Software Glitch Ahead of -10 Certification
Boeing is working to fix a glitch in the 737's automated flight guidance software. The issue, which affects pilots during landing scenarios, forces them to switch to manual control or secondary pitch control modes.
The problem occurs when a pilot alters the programmed flight path after a missed approach, causing the flight management computer software to incorrectly transition from VNAV mode to a simpler level of automation for pitch control.
Although Boeing says the issue does not pose a safety concern, it has notified operators and is working on an update. Some airlines have requested that deliveries be paused until the updated software is installed.
