Boeing Transfers Advanced Air Mobility Units to Archer Aviation
Boeing is transferring its advanced air mobility units to Archer Aviation in exchange for nearly 20% equity stake. The deal includes Wisk Aero, Insitu, and SkyGrid, adding autonomous tech, defense drones, and airspace systems to Archer's portfolio.
The transaction aligns with Boeing's strategy to focus on core commercial and defense operations while retaining exposure to emerging aviation technology. No cash changes hands; instead, Boeing receives equity, warrants, board rights, and IP access.
Archer gains scale, profitability, and diversified capabilities overnight. The company will acquire Wisk Aero, which brings 1,700+ test flights of autonomous eVTOL development, Insitu's $200M+ revenue from military drones, and SkyGrid's digital airspace management tools.
The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2026 pending regulatory approvals. Boeing may invest up to $55M more if Archer launches a qualifying equity offering.
