Boeing Whistleblower Refuses to Fly Two Models Due to Safety Concerns

Boeing whistleblower Merle Meyers spoke out about the company's safety culture in a recent interview. According to Meyers, Boeing has two aircraft models that he would not fly: the 787 and the 737 MAX. The 737 MAX is Boeing's workhorse aircraft, flying more miles than any other model in the fleet.

Meyers blames Boeing's shift from an engineer-led company to one focused on financial performance for the decline of its safety culture. He claims that executives prioritized profits over safety and allowed scrap parts to be installed on aircraft. Meyers says he began documenting problems as early as 2003 and started flagging scrap parts entering aircraft production around 2015.

Meyers alleges that vice presidents at Boeing were aware of the improper parts movement but did nothing to stop it. He claims that workers even stamped off on defective parts in some cases, which is a serious safety concern.
