Boeing Wins $20 Billion Contract for F/A-XX Sixth-Gen Fighter
Boeing has secured a major contract worth more than $20 billion to develop the F/A-XX sixth-generation carrier-based strike fighter for the U.S. Navy.
The award gives Boeing its second sixth-generation combat aircraft program, following its selection for the U.S. Air Force's F-47 in 2025.
The F/A-XX contract covers full-scale development and multiple test aircraft for ground, airworthiness, systems, and weapons integration testing.
The platform is expected to begin augmenting and eventually replacing the F/A-18E/F Super Hornets and EA-18G Growlers in the 2030s, while operating alongside the F-35C.
