Boeing Wins $20 Billion Contract for Navy's Sixth-Gen Fighter
The US Navy has awarded Boeing a contract worth over $20 billion to build its new carrier-based sixth-generation fighter, the F/A-XX. This aircraft will augment and eventually replace older F/A-18E/F Super Hornets and EA-18G Growlers beginning in the 2030s.
The F/A-XX is designed to dominate contested airspace, extend operational reach, and deliver a decisive combat advantage for the warfighter, according to Undersecretary of Defense Michael P. Duffey.
Boeing will also be building the Air Force's sixth-gen fighter program, known as the F-47. The company has already won the contract for this program in March 2025.
