Boeing Wins $20 Billion Contract for Next Generation Air Dominance Program
The US Department of War has awarded Boeing a contract worth over $20 billion for the full-scale development phase of the Sixth-Generation F/A-XX Strike Fighter under the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program.
The F/A-XX is designed to dominate contested airspace, extend operational reach, and deliver a decisive combat advantage for warfighters. It will be interoperable with manned and unmanned platforms, including Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA), and increase the capability of every CCA it teams with.
The total cost of the NGAD program is expected to touch close to $250 billion, making it the most ambitious US fighter jet program after the F-35 fifth-generation jet. The F/A-XX will provide advanced carrier-based power projection that extends the range of U.S. Navy carriers.
