Boeing Wins $20 Billion Contract for Next-Generation Navy Fighter
The US Navy has awarded Boeing a contract worth over $20 billion to develop its future sixth-generation carrier-based fighter-bomber, known as the F/A-XX.
The selection of Boeing marks a significant concentration of future US combat-aircraft programmes in the company, which was also chosen last year to develop the F-47 for the US Air Force.
Lockheed Martin was eliminated from the competition earlier this year after its proposal did not meet certain programme requirements, while Northrop Grumman was the other contender left standing against Boeing.
