Boeing Wins $20 Billion Contract for US Navy's New Fighter Jets
The US Navy has chosen Boeing to build its next-generation fighter jets in a contract valued at $20 billion, officials announced Tuesday. The F/A-XX aircraft or 'strike fighters' will replace the legacy Super Hornets fleet beginning in the 2030s.
This marks the second time Boeing has been selected by the Pentagon during the Trump administration for a sixth-generation weapons system.
The new jets are part of the 'Next Generation Air Dominance Program,' which aims to create a more advanced and capable fighter aircraft. The contract is expected to begin production in the coming years, with deliveries starting in the 2030s.
