Boeing Wins $20 Billion US Navy Stealth Fighter Contract
Boeing has been chosen to build the US Navy's next-generation stealth fighter, the F/A-XX, in a $20 billion development contract. The company beat out Northrop Grumman for the deal after Lockheed Martin was dropped from the competition in March last year.
The new jet is expected to have advanced stealth capabilities, longer range, and the ability to work with uncrewed combat aircraft. It will replace the Super Hornet and is expected to enter production in the 2030s.
Boeing's St. Louis operations will benefit from the contract, as the company shuts down its Super Hornet and Growler lines.
