Boeing Wins $75 Million Contract for Long-Range Guided Bomb GBU-75

The U.S. Air Force has awarded Boeing a $75 million contract to produce a new long-range guided bomb, dubbed the GBU-75, which can fly over 300 nautical miles. The GBU-75 is a modified version of the Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) that uses a wing-and-turbojet engine kit to extend its range. This modification is part of Boeing's BSU-111/B Payload Delivery Unit program.

According to Boeing, the GBU-75 will provide the fleet with an affordable and sustainable solution for eliminating long-range land and sea-based threats to U.S. and international forces. The company has spent nearly $100 million on the program so far. The Navy has already demonstrated the GBU-75's capabilities in April, when two JDAM LRs were released from Super Hornets over the Point Mugu Sea Range off California. The weapon flew 34 minutes before landing within meters of its target.
