Boeing Wins Full-Rate Production Contract for MH-139A Grey Wolf Helicopter
The US Air Force has awarded Boeing its first full-rate production contract for the MH-139A Grey Wolf helicopter, paving the way for real-world deployment.
The contract, announced by Boeing yesterday (1 October), covers the delivery of four additional helicopters to the program. This brings the total number of contracted aircraft to 42, with 27 already delivered to date.
Kathleen Jolivette, vice president and general manager at Boeing's Vertical Lift Programs, noted that this milestone validates key readiness levels for Grey Wolf and supports the service's fielding plans to secure vital national assets across the country's strategic missile fields.
The MH-139A Grey Wolf is replacing the Vietnam-era UH-1N Huey, which had significant capability gaps in speed, range, endurance, payload capacity, and aircraft self-protection. The Grey Wolf is around 50% faster and can carry twice the number of troops as its predecessor.
