Boeing Wins Huge Contract for Next-Generation Stealth Fighter
The US Department of Defense has awarded Boeing a massive contract to manufacture the F/A-XX, a sixth-generation fighter jet for the US Navy. The $20 billion deal marks a significant upgrade in air superiority capabilities and a major coup for Boeing.
The F/A-XX is expected to offer advanced radar-mitigation stealth capabilities, boosting its range and fuel efficiency compared to current fifth-generation aircraft like the F-35 and F-22 Raptor. The new fighter will also be interoperable with manned and unmanned platforms, increasing the capability of every Collaborative Combat Aircraft (CCA) it teams with.
The contract win comes after Boeing edged out Northrop Grumman in a competitive bid process. This is not the only major award for Boeing recently, as they were previously selected to produce the Next Generation Air Dominance program's F-47 aircraft for the US Air Force.
